After purchasing a country house, a plan was made for its reconstruction, the first point of which was to install a new fence. The old fence with a wicket and gate was wooden and lopsided - it was decided to demolish it. In order not to leave the site without fencing, the old fence left until the end of the work. The new fence was moved half a meter in front of the old one - there was enough space for this. Installation of a metal profile fence
When choosing a material for the fence, various options were considered: brick, natural stone and ready concrete panels (so-called eurofence). The first two technologies were abandoned immediately due to their high cost and laboriousness of the installation, and doubts about their durability arose regarding the concrete panels. As a result, the choice fell on the fence of the steel profiled sheet,mounted on a bearing frame. To reduce the cost of reconstruction, most of the work that does not require specific skills was planned to be carried out on its own. Due to the lack of a welding machine at that time, the parts of the structure were joined using studs with nuts and washers. This somewhat complicates and delays the process, but in the end, it allowed to save an amount equal to half the cost of materials. Design and design measures
Before the start of work, the site was measured and a draft design was drawn up and calculated the need for materials. The total length of the metal profile fence was 23.6 meters, the minimum height is 1700 mm. The plans included installation of an entrance gate 0.8–0.9 m wide and entrance gates 3.0 m wide. Movable elements of the barrier - swing, opening to the outside. After the calculations, a list of materials required for the construction of the fence was drawn up, which includes the following items: - Steel profiled sheet C-8x1150 of dark red color 1.7 m long - 4 pieces and 1, 5 m - 16 pieces. - White silicate brick - 500 pieces. - Cement Portland 500 - 5 bags of 50 kg. - Sand quarry washed and sifted - 5 tons. - Crushed stone of mixed fractions - 5 tons. - Profiled steel pipe with a section of 40x40 mm - 60 meters (m), with a section of 20x20x1.2 mm - 24 running meters. - Corner of steel 25x25x3,5 mm - 30 lm. - Steel sheet 2 mm thick - 1 piece. - Channel M12 - 4 pieces of 2.5 m. - Sheds - 5 pieces. - Fasteners: 8 mm studs, M8 nuts, washers, self-tapping screws, aluminum rivets and M8 bolts with a large screwdriver head. The installation of the fence required the following tools:
- Spade bayonet and shovels, buckets for bulk materials and water. - Trough for mixing concrete. - Angle grinder with cutting and grinding wheels. - Electric drill with a set of drills for metal. - Electric screwdriver. - The device for installing rivets. - Locksmith tools: wrenches, pliers, tongs, screwdrivers and nail puller. - Roulette, hydraulic level, plumb line, angle, cord and pegs. - Electric extension 50 m.
The materials were purchased in one company, which reduced the time and get a small bonus in the form of delivery at the expense of the seller. Storage was carried out in the yard under a canopy to avoid wetting in case of precipitation. Site preparation and markings
The site in front of the old fence was cleared of vegetation and debris. At the extreme points were set pegs interconnected by a cord. With the help of the hydraulic level, zero marks were made, from which the height of the erected fence was measured. At the places of installation of the gate and wicket, additional pegs are installed. The intervals between them were divided into equal parts and are also designated for the installation of pillars. The next item on the work plan was to prepare a trench for a sand-gravel bed and pits. The depth of the moat should be at least 20 cm, and the depth of the pits under the columns should be about 80 - 90 cm. The excavated soil was evenly distributed over the area in front of the yard and leveled. The dumping of the cushion was carried out in two layers of equal thickness: first, gravel, then sand flush with the earth's surface. Support poles of 2.5 m length were installed in two extreme pits, so that their height was not less than 1750 mm. After the concreting of the pits, the vertical position of the pillars was verified by means of a plumb line. In the sand-cement mortar, crushed stone was added to increase strength. Previously, all the columns were covered with a primer to protect against corrosion. Between the installed columns at a level of 25 cm from the ground, cords were strung, indicating the height of the supports and the brickwork. At this preparatory activities were completed and the opportunity to proceed directly to the installation of fencing. Installation of columns and brickwork
At this stage, an assistant was needed, whose task was to knead the mortar and feed materials. The first to install and concreted columns. Work was simplified by the tense cords. They denoted the plane of the fence, and it was necessary to control the verticality of the installation only in one direction. In the installation areas of the gate, the channels were installed and concreted. In the intervals between the posts, brickwork was performed at the level indicated by the bottom cord.The basis for it was a sand pad that was poured in and compacted at the previous stage. In the process of masonry, a trowel and a special mason's hammer were used. The gaps for the installation of gates and wickets were left empty. Corner was attached to the top of the support posts with trimmings of pipes 10 mm in diameter and 15 mm in length, and M8 bolts with nuts. At a level of 50 cm from the brickwork, a profiled steel pipe was installed. The assembly of these elements with studs and nuts was carried out after preliminary drilling.
The corrugated board was fastened to the carcass installed at the previous stage with rivets and screws. This operation was carried out as follows: the sheet started up at a corner and rose all the way up. In this position, it was fixed with the help of wooden wedges that were installed between the masonry and corrugated flooring. Holes were drilled in the right places and the sheet was riveted to the corner and profile. Manufacturing and installation of wickets and gates
This operation was carried out in two stages: wicket and gate frames were assembled on an improvised slipway, and then hung and sheathed with professional flooring. Bearing structures consist of two vertical and two horizontal profiles section 40x40 mm, connected with each other by means of false slopes of triangular shape. Bottom corners were set using bolts and tubes.
Hanging gate and gate was carried out on ready separate canopies, one part of which was pre-mounted to the posts. Frames were installed and fixed with wedges. The edge of the sheet was brought to the lower corner, after which he pressed against the upper corner removed at that time and riveted to them. After that, the gate was equipped with a deadbolt, and the gate was equipped with a conventional mortise lock.
Subsequently, an intercom and a mailbox were installed at the entrance. In the process of work, the old fence was dismantled in parts, which made it possible not to bare the yard until the installation of a new fence. As a result of almost ten days of effort, it turned out to be a pleasant-looking and, most importantly, very functional protective structure. Metal profile fence is one of the most affordable and reliable types of fencing.
