How to turn on the stove?

Nowadays, a gas or electric stove is available in every house, but nevertheless even experienced housewives sometimes do not know how to turn on a kitchen stove of an unfamiliar construction.
How to turn on the gas stove
Before you turn on the new gas stove, carefully read the instructions attached to it. If the instruction is missing for some reason, or you want to turn on the stove of an unfamiliar construction, for example, when cooking at a party or in a rented apartment, inspect the front panel of the gas stove - on it, next to each handle, a conditional image should be applied, indicating what it controls the hob.
Find a gas pipe suitable for the stove and open the valve embedded in it. Usually, the gas in the pipes is blocked by a ball valve, if you have the same valve installed, turn its handle in such a way that it is parallel to the gas pipe.
Manual ignition burner
In the most simple plates, the gas is ignited manually, using matches or a special lighter.Decide which hotplate you will turn on, and find out which handle on the stove corresponds to it. Ignite a match, bring it to the edge of the burner, drown the burner handle (i.e. lightly push it down), and at the same time turn it counterclockwise. When the gas that started to enter the burner ignites, quickly remove your hand from the burner and extinguish the match. Set the gas knob to the maximum position, make sure that the gas burns around the perimeter of the burner with a steady blue flame, then turn the knob to adjust its flow to the desired value.
Similarly, you can turn on the gas stove with a lighter, but in this case there is one small nuance - lighters for gas stoves are of two types - piezo or electric lighters. If you just need to unplug the fuse and bring it to the burner, before you press the button on the piezo lighter, you must first turn on the electric lighter.
Built-in burner ignition
If in the left part of this panel you find a button, near which a spark is schematically drawn, then your stove is equipped with the function of semi-automatic electric ignition.
A gas stove equipped with a semi-automatic or fully automatic electric ignition function is much easier to ignite. In the first variant, it is only necessary to press the handle from the burner you need, turn it a quarter of a turn counterclockwise and simultaneously press the electric ignition button. When the gas ignites, it will be possible to adjust the flame. In the second variant, the gas in the burner will light up immediately after turning the knob without any additional actions. Note: the most modern gas stoves are equipped with a gas supply control system. In such plates, the handle cannot be released immediately after the gas is set on fire, otherwise the burner may go out. To avoid this, the handle should be held in the depressed state for about 10 seconds.
How to turn on the oven in gas stoves is described in detail in the article How to turn on the oven in a gas stove.
How to turn on the electric stove
Electric stoves are included much easier than gas.
- In classic electric stoves, the hotplates and ovens are turned on using the knobs located on their front panel. The same regulators change the degree of heating. As a rule, each regulator has four fixed positions, starting from the “0” position, at which the hob or oven is completely turned off, and ending with the “3” position, at which the maximum heating occurs. Usually the knobs of the knobs are rotated clockwise. In order to turn on such a plate, it is only necessary to turn the knob corresponding to the burner you need in the indicated direction and set it to the desired position.
- In the most modern plates with touch controls, switching on and selecting the mode is done by simply touching the desired buttons.
