Carp is a river fish, therefore it is distinguished by a certain specific smell of mud or stagnant water. This fact should be taken into account in the process of cooking this fish. In this article we will explain how to bake carp, so that it has a pleasant aroma and unforgettable taste. A recipe for fried carp can be found in our article - How to fry carp.
How to bake carp in foil: a recipe
For the preparation we need:
- baking sheet and foil
- whole carp
- onion garlic
- sour cream
- seasonings: pepper, salt, oregano
- bell pepper
- vegetable oil for lubrication
- Carp clean, leave the head, remove the eyes. Headless option is allowed. We wash the carcass, slightly soak it with a napkin. So the fish will be more crispy, juicy.
- We make shallow cuts on the sides across the carcass.
- Rub with a mixture of salt, pepper and dried oregano.
- Mix sour cream with mayonnaise (approximately 1: 1), add grated garlic. Mix well to distribute garlic.
- Grate carrots on a grater of medium size, cut onions to your taste (finely, large). Fry vegetables in oil. Add half the mixture of sour cream with mayonnaise.
- Cut the tomatoes into rings, sweet Bulgarian pepper into strips or in another way at your discretion.
- Grate cheese. The amount of cheese at your discretion, it is better not to regret and take more.
We roll the foil in two layers, slightly we coat it with vegetable oil. We put tomatoes in one or two layers, on top of a few strips of pepper. Carp daubed with sour cream sauce on all sides, put on tomatoes. Stuff the carp with a mixture of carrots and onions with the sauce. On top again, tomatoes and pepper strips, all grease sour cream and garlic sauce.
Wrap tightly in foil, you can have several layers. Sent to a hot oven (180 degrees) for fifty minutes. Time is average, depends on the size of the fish. For 10 minutes until readiness we reach the carp and cut the foil in the center along the length (or simply unfold it). At this stage, we act very carefully - in the foil is very hot steam. Lavishly sprinkle with grated cheese. Without wrapping, we send carp to get fatter (until cheese melts). Ready carp decorate with greens.
Baked carp with lemon
If you fish from a pond, it may have a peculiar smell. Do not worry, and this carp can be baked very tasty.
We will need:
- Cleaned and washed carcass
- Salt pepper
- Vegetable oil
- Dried oregano
- Bulb onions
- Sour cream
- We make several cuts on the carcass, rub it with salt and pepper from all sides. Spray lemon juice and put in the fridge for about thirty minutes. This is the first stage of getting rid of unpleasant smell.
- Onion cut into rings.
- Squeeze garlic into sour cream, add oregano.
- This carp grease sour cream sauce inside and out.
- We put onions on a foil or in a form with a lid, distribute from above thin circles of lemon. On a lemon we put carp stuffed with onions. Insert the lemon half rings into the cuts of the carcass. Wrap our carp in foil (or close the form) and send it in a hot oven (degrees 180-200) for an average of 40-50 minutes. If the carp is large, it may take longer. Also consider the features of your oven.
How to bake a carp with apples
Another original recipe for carp with apples, for which we need:
- Whole carp cleaned
- Apples (green is better, firm)
- Whole lemon juice
- Salt pepper
- We make cuts in the carcass along the back, cutting the central bone. Salt, pepper, grind. Pour lemon juice and insist in a cold place.
- Onions cut into rings, apples with slices (about a centimeter thick on the wide side of the slices).
- In the form of laying a pillow of onion rings and apples. Such a recipe would be useful if the fish has a pronounced smell of mud. Lemon, apples and onions will kill the smell and spice up this river fish.
- Carp daubed with mayonnaise and laid on a bow with apples. Insert slices of apples and onions into the cuts. Close the form and bake for 50-60 minutes. The temperature is about 180-200 degrees.
